I’m not sure where I read first about the $8 Zsun WiFi Card Reader and the attempts by the people at Warsaw Hackerspace to flash it with their port of OpenWRT. It made me curious, so I went ahead and ordered a sample. Shipping from China took a while but I received the tiny gadget yesterday.
So far I could confirm the documented root access to the stock firmware via telnet on port 11880 using the password “zsun1188”. I have not tried flashing OpenWRT yet as I am not sure which of the at least two different PCB versions I got. Could anyone give me a hint on this?
it’s v2 hw – i have it the same.
unfortunately i;ve bricked mine and i find it very difficult to connect to it with serial cable to recover it
Same here. I successfully flashed OpenWRT and then managed to lock myself out with a bad wifi config. I’m able to read the serial console output but failed to send any input. I hope to find the time to post a follow-up on this, soon.
I have the first version of this but i failed up to get openwrt with telnet method.. i can open the window until login and /tmp but everytime if i trying the commands its failed. Can somebody show me privately or record an video how i can do this.. please
interesting, so the serial isn’t working properly on v2 hw – same here – only receiving – not able to send anything.
your openwrt bad config can be easily erased with a factory default:
Entering failsafe will run a script that automatically does a factory reset
The SD card detect pin is registered as a button and will trigger failsafe when inserted/removed during boot
The SD card reader is reset every time a card is inserted or removed
